Everything you need for microwave bacon
Remember those plastic bacon dishes from the ’90s that used to microwave bacon? Imagine not needing any of these to cook perfect bacon in the microwave.
Here’s everything you need to make microwave bacon:
- Your favorite bacon (raw, of course!)
- A large microwaveable plate that fits in your microwave
- 3-4 pieces of kitchen paper
And that’s it! With these three simple things, you’ll have perfectly cooked bacon in no time. YAY.

How to put bacon in the microwave
This process of how to cook bacon in the microwave is as easy as 1-2-3. That’s how it’s done!
- Line a large plate with 3-4 layers of kitchen paper.
- Place strips of bacon on the paper towel, being careful not to overlap the bacon.
- Go ahead and microwave the bacon plate on high for 3 minutes.
- Using a fork or tongs, turn the bacon over and cook the bacon on high for an additional 3 minutes.
- If the bacon isn’t your perfect bacon consistency, continue cooking the bacon in 30-second increments until the bacon is perfectly cooked to your liking.

How long to microwave bacon?
Bacon in the microwave takes between 6 and 10 minutes to cook, depending on the thickness of the bacon.
How long you cook your bacon in the microwave will determine the doneness of your bacon. The longer you put bacon in the microwave bacon, the crispier it will be.
Bacon-thick cooking times
Thin Bacon: If using thin bacon, we recommend starting with 2 minutes, then flipping and cooking for another 2 minutes. Then microwave in 30-60 second increments until desired doneness is achieved.
Medium/Thick Bacon: For medium to thick cut bacon, start with 3 minutes. Turn and cook for another 3 minutes. Then microwave in 30-60 second increments until desired doneness is achieved.

Then place 4-6 pieces of bacon on the plate (as many as you can fit).
