I have been having a bowl of oatmeal almost every day since I arrived in Germany and this is my favorite recipe. We’ve shared other oat recipes on the blog ( Easy Vegan Oats , Vegan Blueberry Peanut Butter Oats , Simple Vegan Chocolate Oats , and Baked Oatmeal with Apple Pie ) and another amazing recipe in our e-book Simple Vegan Meals . I LOVE oats, in case you haven’t noticed. ?

I usually make my oatmeal with water, but this time I used soy milk because I feel like oatmeal is creamier and tastes better if I use a little plant milk. When I make it with water, I sometimes add a splash of plant milk at the end, but it will also be delicious if you just use water. I think it’s almost impossible to go wrong with this recipe, it’s always delicious and I could eat it every day.

If you are very busy in the morning, you can prepare the oatmeal the night before and reheat it with water or milk in the morning. It also tastes good cold, but it’s better warm, especially when it’s cold outside.

Advices:

  • You can use any plant-based milk, sweetener or fruit you like. Don’t be afraid to add your favorite toppings (cocoa powder, superfoods, jam, nut butters, etc.).
  • If the oatmeal is too thick, add more milk or water.
  • I use frozen raspberries very often because they are cheaper. If you are making this recipe with frozen berries, add them to the saucepan after the oats and milk have cooked for 5 minutes. You can also thaw them in the fridge or at room temperature overnight and add them at the last minute.

Instructions

  • Place the oats and milk in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the oats are cooked (10 to 15 minutes). Stir occasionally.

  • Pour the oatmeal into two bowls and add a teaspoon of sugar to each bowl. As the oats warm, the sugar will melt and it will look like a syrup.

  • Add a sliced ​​banana to each bowl and raspberries to taste.
