Ingredients in Chipotle Ranch Dressing
Ingredient Notes for Chipotle Ranch
- Mayonnaise– We like homemade mayo or veganaise. Your choice! Or try our Vegan mayo.
- Greek yogurt– Whole milk or low fat. Can use sour cream for a richer dressing. Can also use vegan yogurt or vegan sour cream.
- Lime juice– Fresh squeezed for the best flavor.
- Garlic– Fresh garlic gives a sharp pungent flavor for garlic lovers like us! For a more mild flavor use a 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
- Fresh Cilantro– Fragrant and lively. If cilantro is not your preference you could use a tablespoon of fresh oregano instead(or 1 teaspoon dried).
- Green onion– We stick to the green part minced up for this recipe. Chives would be great here too.
- Chipotle chile powder– We opt for chipotle pepper powder for unadulterated flavor and no hidden ingredients. You can use canned chipotle in adobo sauce if you prefer. The smoky spicy flavor of chipotle chiles is the key for this dressing. If you absolutely don’t want spice you could replace with the same amount of smoked paprika mixed with chili powder.
how to make Chipotle Ranch Dressing
In a bowl whisk together the mayo, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), lime juice, garlic, cilantro, green onion, chipotle powder and salt. Blend together by hand, no need for a food processor or blender!
For best results, refrigerate at least an hour before using. This will help it thicken up. Store in the fridge in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
Ways to use chipotle ranch dressing
Use Chipotle Ranch as a “dip” for healthy fries, grilled veggies or with a Veggie Platter. Toss it with your favorite pasta for a tasty pasta salad, or serve with a Taco Salad!
