This fried southern cabbage makes a great side dish, or just add some of our cornbread and make a meal out of it. If you’ve never tried this fried cabbage, we highly recommend it. Honestly, if it lands on the dinner table, just hand me a fork and get out of my way. It is THE Good! I feel like people really underestimate Kohl. NOTES ON ROAST SOUTHERN CABBAGE:
- This dish makes about six servings and can easily be doubled for a larger group or family meal.
- Here’s a recipe to make your own Cajun seasoning. If you don’t like Cajun seasoning, you can definitely omit it and add whatever spices you like.
- You can easily prepare this dish with smoked sausage, Polish sausage, chicken sausage or smoked turkey.
- I’ve never tried this dish with turkey bacon, but you could definitely try it. If you don’t have bacon fat, just add a little more butter. You can also omit the bacon.
- We make southern fried cabbage in a cast iron skillet. Just make sure you use a non-stick pan for the best results.
HAVE LEFTOVERS?
- This dish should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It has a shelf life of 4-5 days.
- Just heat it up in the microwave or toss it back in a pan and heat it up.
- I’ve been known to reheat it the next day and serve it with a fried egg on top for breakfast. Try it!
