Use it to prepare for your summer get-together July 4th Rice Krispie Treats! Super easy to prepare and disappears in no time. Fun, festive and delicious for your 4th of July or any other party!

Rice Krispie Treats are a classic treat that just about everyone loves! And you can mix and serve them in countless different ways. These are made with just two additional ingredients for the 4th of July. You could color them in and actually make them red and blue, similar to my Watermelon Rice Krispie Treats. But to save less food coloring and less time, I’m going the easy way!
what you will need
Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card for measurements and full instructions!
- Rice Krispie Cereal
- butter
- Marshmallows
- vanilla extract
- White chocolate
- sprinkles
You can definitely use the recipe on the box that you may have been using for years, but this isn’t my favorite version. I like them to be stickier and firmer, so I use a slightly different ratio of ingredients, as you’ll see in the recipe card below.
How to Make Rice Krispie Treats for the 4th of July
- Make rice krispie treats. Place marshmallows and butter in a large mixing bowl and microwave for 60 seconds. Remove and stir until completely melted. If necessary, reheat for 20 seconds. Add vanilla extract and add granola. Mix until completely covered. Press the mixture into a sprayed 13×9 inch casserole dish.
- let set. Let the treats set by letting them sit for about 2 hours. You can do this hours in advance or even put them in the fridge to speed up the process.
- Disc. Using a sharp knife, cut the rice krispie treats into squares and arrange on a large baking sheet.
- decorate. Melt white chocolate and drizzle over the squares. Swirl your festive sprinkles on top. Let the chocolate rest for about an hour before serving.
Recipe tips and suggestions
- I like to take the treats out of the mold and place them on a large baking sheet to catch the excess chocolate and sprinkles and avoid making a mess. However, this also allows you to drizzle a little chocolate on the sides of each square and decorate them differently if desired. This makes it easier than trying to cut them after the chocolate has set.
- Get creative with the decoration. You can use red and blue chocolate, sprinkles, and even icing if needed. Just make them festive! Using a star cutter, cut the cookies into stars before decorating.
- Are you a chocolate fan? Usually in summer there are red, white and blue M&Ms that are great to mix into muesli or just sprinkle on top for a little bit of chocolatey goodness.
- I like to melt my marshmallows and butter together in a large microwave-safe bowl. Simply dice the butter so it takes the same amount of time to melt as the marshmallows. But if you like using a pot, you can definitely go that route instead.
How to Store 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats
Once the chocolate has set, you can transfer it back to your 13″ x 9″ baking pan or simply store in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
