5 restaurants to try this month: June 2023

Want to support local restaurants? Are you curious about new openings or unknown finds? Here are five restaurants I suggest you try this month!

1. Els Guachos Taqueria

Lately we’ve been reminding each other how much we Los Guachos love each other. They are rightly known for their tacos al pastor, which are 2 for 1 every Monday, as well as their gringas al pastor, which are $2 every Wednesday. It’s always a treat to watch them expertly shave the marinated pork off the giant trompo. And while we love al pastor, there are plenty of winners on Los Guachos’ menu.

2. Main moon

We’ve been passing Main Moon Chinese Restaurant for years, ignoring it in the strip that includes Velca Grill, Hungarian Butcher and Cameron’s Bistro. But convinced by friends to give it a go, they immediately sold it to us. Go for the Hot Chili Oil Dumplings (pictured here), Chengdu Cold Noodles, Dan Dan Noodles, Chongqin Spicy Chicken.

3. Fox in the snow

Look, I know most of us don’t need convincing to visit Fox in the Snow, but it’s TOMATO TART SEASON at the cafe. These wonderful seasonal treats give you one more reason to visit, as if the coffee cinnamon buns and egg sandwiches and blueberry galettes and ham and Swiss croissants weren’t reason enough. Now, who’s counting down the days until their Dublin location opens?

4. Cooking real food

True Food Kitchen in Easton has always impressed us with their dynamic menus, and their recent seasonal additions are no exception. Visit them for colorful dishes like refreshing apricot and lime sparkling tea, fresh burrata, farmer’s market crudites, tuna poke, grass-fed burgers, spinach and mushroom pizzas. They also have a full cafe and cocktails.

5. Nile Vegan

It seems like we’re always craving Ethiopian food, and if you’re a plant-based eater, Nile Vegan is here to satisfy those cravings. Our favorite way to experience Ethiopian food is with a group, so you can order a giant plate to share. Ethiopian cuisine is eaten with your hands, using the spongy injera bread to take bites out of various stews with vegetables, lentils, peas, potatoes and the like.
