What makes pork belly so irresistible? There is a certain quality to this cut of meat that allows it to work well with a variety of cooking methods and seasonings. That could be due to the natural saltiness, which isn’t too strong. The X factor could also be the richness of the meat due to the nice blend of fats. I’m sure that blending with the right umami flavors can make the taste even more spectacular. That’s why we have this Peppered Pork Belly recipe!

If you’re a chef just starting to find your feet in the kitchen, this could be a great dish to try. This is because the steps are simple and quite quick. You’ll be using different ingredients, but putting it together primarily involves searing. And the ingredients for it are very popular, such as soy sauce, peppers and garlic. You probably don’t have to worry about getting hold of the items on our recipe list.

But before we begin, I just want to show you a few of the many ways you can work with your pork belly in case you end up with some extra leftovers.
Other ways to cook pork belly
Roasted Pork Belly
A firm favorite at many Pinoy parties, roast pork belly, better known as lechon liempo, is definitely a dish worth learning. I love the quality of this homemade dish as it eats perfectly hot and crispy – straight out of the oven! That’s right – you can easily make this without charcoal. My recipe here is a pretty easy way to make the classic liempo while still retaining the great flavor you want in your pork belly.
Pork Belly Sinigang Sa Sampaloc
If you want to go the healthier route, there’s always the Sinigang Sa Sampaloc pork belly. Find all the nutrients in one bowl, from taro root to gabi to kangkong. And it helps to have the extra protein from our meaty pork belly. Another great benefit of Sinigang is its ease of manufacture. It can be quite time-consuming, but the process basically consists of combining these ingredients in a saucepan and then letting them cook. What you need to be especially mindful of is the time when cooking the different components to make sure you don’t overcook them.
Pork belly asado
Similar to our main recipe, this pork belly asado uses a rich, hearty sauce. They’re actually quite similar in that they both have that characteristic saltiness that we get from soy sauce. However, if you prefer your dishes sweet, this asado recipe might be for you. Brown sugar really brings out the flavor of this dish, while banana ketchup is a perfect addition for some acidity.
That’s enough talk about pork belly. Let’s finally try to cook with it!
