In June of this year, we came together as a family and community to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Tony Cappellano’s death. Tony was the head and heart of the Boom Breakfast family and continues to be an inspiration to us all as we continue in his memory.

A practical leader
Tony opened the first Boom Breakfast location in 2003 on College Street in Toronto, but his experience in the restaurant industry began much earlier. Between 1980 and 1981, Tony was the owner of Sweet Dreams Café, a successful Italian deli and dessert restaurant.
He later worked at Movenpick Restaurants where he was instrumental in guide operations. Tony even had a brief stint in the late 1990s in the Cayman Islands! And of course, he met his love and life partner, Muffy, at the Mars Uptown restaurant in Toronto. You can read the full timeline of Tony’s impressive career here.
But boom it was her baby…
Over the years, Tony grew the Boom brand to include locations in St. Clair, Eglinton and Vaughan. He was involved in every aspect of the business, from clearing tables to welcoming guests and running the kitchen. Today, Tony’s sons, James and Jeffrey Cappellano, are key members of the family business. You can meet them here.
