Ingredients in Butter Noodles
egg noodles: These bite-sized, beefy noodles are perfect for this side and hold up well in sauces and sauces, too. If you don’t have egg noodles on hand, medium-sized clams, fly noodles, or small penne will also work.
butter: Use butter rather than olive oil for this recipe as it adds the best flavor. If you need a non-dairy option, choose a flavorful alternative like non-dairy butter.
Cheese: Parmesan cheese is optional and depending on what I’m serving these with, I sometimes add it and sometimes leave it out. Either fresh Parmesan or grated Parmesan goes great with buttered pasta.
Spices: Here you can let your culinary creativity run free! Add fresh herbs and spices like basil, parsley or thyme. To complement the dish you’re serving it with, consider stirring in some cheese sauce or pesto, or smothering it with sauce.

How to make butter noodles
- Boil egg noodles in water and drain (do not rinse).
- Add the butter to the saucepan and stir in the pasta and some pasta water (optional).
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and garnish with some parsley for color. Serve hot.
PRO TIP: Reserve some pasta water to adjust the consistency.

leftovers?
Store leftover buttery pasta in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Add leftovers to a savory Pasta e fagioli soup or a deliciously filling turkey casserole. Or just reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave with some water to fluff up the pasta! This isn’t a good dish to freeze as the pasta will soften once thawed, but it’s so easy to make, just start fresh!
