How would you like to prepare a homemade sundried tomato pie? Super easy and quick to make, it’s bursting with savory Mediterranean flavors. Let us show you how!
To create this paste, we combine elements of the ancient Roman tapenade recipe with a generous handful of sun-dried tomatoes and a flavorful blend of Mediterranean spices.
Our tapenade base consists of olives, capersAnd sun dried tomatoes. Tapenade derives from the word tapenas in the ancient Occitan language, meaning “capers”.[1]. So, capers are the most basic ingredient you need to make tapenade. Olives are important too, and we recommend using the aromatic black Kalamata olives for maximum flavor.
These three ingredients alone would be enough to make a tasty spread. But we’ve taken the recipe a few steps further with this colorful and synergistic blend of spices and herbs: Garlic, Cayenne Pepper, Paprika, Parsely, oregano And basil. Nice.
To make the pie spread easier and keep it longer, we added a sprinkle to it Extra virgin olive oil.
This sun-dried tomato paste is perfect for making crunchy rusks or as a base for a tastier pesto. We’ll give you all the help you need to get this on your table in the recipe below. Just join in and have fun!
NOTE: The standard ingredients make about 220 g (7.70 z) of tapenade and a serving is one tablespoon (16 g or 0.5 oz).
