If you’re looking for a delicious, filling dessert that won’t disrupt your diet, our Silken Tofu Chocolate Mousse is a must. With our super healthy3-ingredient recipe, you can indulge in a guilt-free chocolate treat.
The classic French mousse is a decadent dessert made with whipped cream, eggs, melted chocolate, and white sugar. While delicious, it is not suitable for those with egg or dairy allergies, following a vegan diet or on a weight loss plan.
Don’t worry! Here at Foodaciously, we strive to bring you truly healthy recipes that everyone can enjoy. So we made this chocolate mousse vegan, sugar-free and low-fat. We swapped cream and eggs for silken tofu, chocolate for cocoa powder, and sugar for dates. That’s it, easy and delicious!
Silken tofu has a higher water content and less fat than classic tofu. It’s also easier to work into a smooth cream, making it the perfect non-dairy alternative to cream. Using cocoa instead of melted chocolate means you even have fewer fats and calories — and still have all the delicious chocolaty flavor.
Finally, we swapped out refined sugar for dates, soaked them in hot water, and mixed them in with the other ingredients. Dates have 30% less sugar than table sugar and valuable fiber that slows the flow of energy from digested sugar.
The result is an incredibly smooth, shiny and naturally sweet mousse with only 134 calories per serving, 7% RDI fat and 10% RDI sugar. Compared to a classic French mousse, that is half the calories, five times less saturated fat And three times less sugar.
