Fruit lovers can rejoice: sweet, juicy mangoes are in season in summer! This delicious fruit goes great with smoothies, snacks and even savory dishes in a sweet and tangy salsa.
So today I want to share my favorite healthy mango recipes to enjoy this summer!
Nutritional Benefits of Mango
Mangoes are a really good source of vitamin C and also contain good amounts of vitamin A, vitamin B6, fiber and folic acid.
Mangoes are also high in beta-carotene (the reason for their yellow-orange color), an antioxidant that may help fight cancer.
When is mango in season?
Mango is a drupe (like peaches) that grows on trees. Imported mangoes and frozen mangoes are often available year-round, but peak mango season is May through September.
How to cut mango
Here’s a little tip to cut mango more effectively: Use the rim of a glass!
First, cut off both ends of the mango (around the pit). Press the end of the mango down against the side of a glass mug (skin out) to “peel off” the skin.
Then simply dice or slice the remaining mango flesh!

If you’ve never tried chia pudding, you’re in for a treat! It tastes like a dessert but is nutrient dense and high in protein.

Mango habanero salsa
This fruit salsa is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy, with plenty of spiciness from the habanero peppers. (If you don’t like a lot of spice, you can easily use fewer habanero peppers or replace them with jalapeños!)
Mango salsa is great with fish tacos (like these Blackened Salmon Tacos), but it’s just as delicious on its own as a dip with fries!
Honey Lime Fruit Salad with Yoghurt Dressing
Is there anything more important? Summer as a fruit salad? You can use any type of fruit you like, but mango is always a welcome addition to my fruit salads. It’s so juicy and sweet and pairs well with pretty much any other fruit or berry.
Plus, the honey lime yogurt dressing in this recipe is absolutely delicious – a must!
Turmeric Mango Smoothie with Ginger
This immune-boosting smoothie is packed with nutrients and has a deliciously sweet and tangy taste (thanks to the mango and ginger combo)!
