Nutritional Benefits of Mango

Mangoes are a really good source of vitamin C and also contain good amounts of vitamin A, vitamin B6, fiber and folic acid.

Mangoes are also high in beta-carotene (the reason for their yellow-orange color), an antioxidant that may help fight cancer.

When is mango in season?

Mango is a drupe (like peaches) that grows on trees. Imported mangoes and frozen mangoes are often available year-round, but peak mango season is May through September.

How to cut mango

Here’s a little tip to cut mango more effectively: Use the rim of a glass!

First, cut off both ends of the mango (around the pit). Press the end of the mango down against the side of a glass mug (skin out) to “peel off” the skin.

Then simply dice or slice the remaining mango flesh!

If you’ve never tried chia pudding, you’re in for a treat! It tastes like a dessert but is nutrient dense and high in protein.

Mango habanero salsa

This fruit salsa is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy, with plenty of spiciness from the habanero peppers. (If you don’t like a lot of spice, you can easily use fewer habanero peppers or replace them with jalapeños!)

Mango salsa is great with fish tacos (like these Blackened Salmon Tacos), but it’s just as delicious on its own as a dip with fries!

Mango Pineapple Kale Smoothie

Can you tell me by now that I’m a big fan of adding mango to my smoothies? It’s just a great addition because it adds tons of flavor and tons of sweetness.

Technically, this is a green smoothie thanks to the kale, but you won’t even notice! The tropical flavors of mango and pineapple are the stars of the show here. In addition, Greek yoghurt and the milk of your choice provide more protein and stamina.
