Want to support local restaurants? Are you curious about new openings or unknown finds? Here are five restaurants I suggest you try this month!

1. Brekkie Shack
Brekkie Shack in Grandview Yard serves a creative breakfast that will keep you coming back again and again. Think varieties of avocado toast, breakfast burritos, pancakes, french toast, hash, fresh pastries, a full cafe. My personal favorite is their All The Feels Breakfast Sandwich with eggs, bacon, cheddar, brussels sprouts and a maple dip.

2. The Potosins
The beloved Los Potosinos Taco Truck, one of the OGs of the Columbus taco truck scene, is back in action recently. Most have settled once again in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood, but they also make forays into the west side. You can’t go wrong with much of their menu, but the real draw is pollo al carboni: a wonderfully tender grilled chicken served on a plate with rice, beans and a small salad.
The Potosins
860 E. Long St.
Columbus, OH 43203

3. Watershed Kitchen and Bar
I would recommend Watershed Kitchen & Bar, the dining extension of Watershed Distillery in Grandview, any time of year. The cocktail program is one of the best in town, and the culinary team crafts a three-part menu that playfully explores Midwestern staples. But I’m introducing them now because they recently launched a new happy hour that’s a stellar deal: 1/2 off appetizers and shareables (level 1 on their menu), as well as 1/2 off cocktails. It is available at the bars sitting and standing from Monday to Thursday, from 17 to 18 and on Friday from 16 to 18.

4. Goodale station
Goodale Station is located above the Canopy By Hilton Hotel, across from the convention center. It would be easy for a hotel restaurant to phone it in (they have a ready-made clientele), but under the leadership of Chef Jonathan Olson (formerly of The Keep), Goodale Station produces a stellar lineup of cocktails, a beautiful menu of whiskey, and creative bites that are good for a full meal or an elevated night of drinks. And I mean elevated: Sitting 12 stories high, Goodale Station offers unique views of downtown Columbus, the Arena District and the Short North.

77 E. Nationwide Blvd.
Columbus, OH 43215
