[2023] Honest True Botanicals Review

True Botanicals Review of Skin Care Products.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a clean beauty review. Between pregnancy and having a baby, skincare has taken a bit of a backseat, so I didn’t have to update you much.

However, I recently saw Credo start stocking True Botanicals and I knew I had to try their products. True Botanicals has been on my radar for a while, but I just never got around to trying them. Now that Credo is wearing them, it felt like the sign I needed to do a skincare review.

At my own discretion, I have reached out to Credo to send some products of my choice, but I am not obligated or paid to write this True Botanicals Review. Take that as you will, but know that any opinions expressed are solely my own.

With that, here is a breakdown of True Botanicals and my full True Botanical Review.

TLDR; I have really enjoyed the True Botanicals line of products and would buy them again. As someone with an established skincare routine I wouldn’t say it stands out from other high quality natural skincare lines but it definitely worked well and my skin looks great. Would recommend!

What is True Botanicals?

According to the True Botanicals website, “True Botanicals is a luxury, consciously crafted skincare brand with a mission to deliver clean, sustainable products that are proven to perform at the highest level.

True Botanicals is a luxury, consciously crafted skincare brand with a mission to deliver clean and sustainable products that have been clinically proven to meet the highest standards.

Their products are vegan, sustainably sourced and focus on ingredients derived from plant extracts that are both powerful and effective for your skin.

True Botanicals was founded in 2014 after founder Hillary Peterson was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 32. As a young mother of twins, Peterson began investigating the ingredients in her skincare products and was shocked to discover that many of them were loaded with toxins.

She selected the best chemists and sustainability experts to create a clean skincare line that is both safe and effective.

True Botanicals is also endorsed and financially backed by celebrities like Olivia Wilde and Laura Dern who have helped promote the brand and make it a household name.

The ingredients

True Botanicals ingredients focus on plant-derived peptides and antioxidants that are safe for both our bodies and the environment.

All of their products carry the MADE SAFE® seal, the most comprehensive safety standard available, which certifies them Manufactured without 6,500 toxic chemicals known to harm human health and the environment.

As a cruelty-free company, they’re also certified by Leaping Bunny and PETA, and their products are GMO-free.

One of their main ingredients is chebula, a fruit that contains a wide range of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. See Chebula serum and individual product reviews below.

Many of their products contain seed oils and essential fatty acids for hydration. They also use a range of vitamins like their vitamin C booster.

True Botanicals also heavily supports research and clinical trials that prove their products are safe and effective. You can read more about it here.

Is True Botanicals Pregnancy + Lactation Safe?

As a breastfeeding mom, it is important for me to know that my skincare products are safe for both pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Yes, all True Botanicals products are pregnancy safe. To learn more, read this post about their pregnancy-safe product rituals, including their phyto-retinol vitamin A booster.

Before + After: True Botanicals Review

I tested True Botanicals products for 6 weeks. I was originally going to post some before and after pictures but the truth is you probably won’t see any difference.

I’ve used effective, high-quality skin care products before, so my foreskin has been in pretty good shape for a while. Besides that, I have noticed a real improvement in my skin’s texture and my skin retains more moisture and generally feels more hydrated.

Breakouts have been at a minimum, but that might be because 1) my acne days seem to be behind me and 2) I’m still breastfeeding, so who knows what’s going on with my hormones.

As for aging and wrinkles and fine lines, I personally don’t notice any difference, but that could be judged better in 10-15 years.

I decided to try the Renew line primarily as I am more focused on anti-aging benefits than the Clear line which is designed for blemish-prone, sensitive skin.

With this in mind, here are my individual product ideas.

True Botanicals Product Reviews

01

Renew Nourishing Cleanser

A nice cleanser that doesn’t dry out too much. I generally stick with cleansing balms (see below) but for days when I don’t wear makeup this is a really good option.

02

Calm Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm

Probably my favorite product from this line. I love a good cleansing balm and this one is truly amazing. It smells amazing and removes all my makeup in one go. I use it every night and definitely plan on repurchasing it once it’s done.

03

Clear nutrient toner

This is probably the product I have sold the least. I generally think that plain rosewater or witch hazel with toners will do, but it smells great!

04

Renew Chebula Active Serum

I absolutely love this serum. I mix it with the Vitamin C Booster (below) before applying the Pure Radiance Oil. I’m not sure if it makes a huge difference to other serums I’ve used, but since I haven’t used retinol in over 18 months and my skin is flawless, I’d like to think it has something to do with it do with this serum.

05

Renew Pure Radiance Oil

An amazing facial oil that works. It absorbs very quickly, leaving no greasy feeling. I sometimes want to apply an extra cream on top (or before) in the evenings if my skin is feeling particularly dry, but for anyone looking for a light oil I highly recommend it!

06

Vitamin C booster

I love this product. Now I know the powder formula can be a little annoying for some people BUT vitamin C isn’t the most durable in a liquid so the powder formula ensures it stays effective longer. I feel like this is the powerful ingredient I’ve been missing in my skincare routine.
